Haiku ( post 1984 )
No peace in empire . . .
Blind surveil themselves freely, . . .
Perpetual war.

That impossible year, which we dreaded is here
When Big Brother would rule our existence
All part of the plan, not devised by one man
But at our own very insistence
A Rebel inside. Our true thoughts we hide
In a box tucked away in the attic
As intelligence sinks, to a cruel savage brink
Behind veils of the loyal fanatic
Policing our mind. We fear what they’ll find
And bring up the veil in great haste
But it turns out instead, we’re easily read
Thought-crimes are all over our face
It also is clear, our children we fear
War games they have learned very well
Playing hide-n-go-seek, they spy-n-go-speak
To Big Brother. Our secrets they tell
Truth and Family, was the reality
But the Party subordinates the truth
For its own power gain. We fight, but in vain
As it corrupts and brainwashes our youth
We should just give in, for Big Brother will win
Surely it can’t hurt all that much
Propagandas’ our feed. The Party fills our need
Our Tele-screens keep us in touch
If we constantly train, seal this truth in our brain
And are confident there is no other
Then the Party will bless loyal ones who confess:
“I trust and I love my Big Brother”
